• SPECIAL MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER ICE ARENA COMMISSION <br /> HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br /> THURSDAY, MAY 15, 1997 <br /> Members Present: Chair Martin; Commissioners Johnson, Farber, Kupka, Gongoll, and <br /> Taus (7:55 p.m.) <br /> Members Absent: Commissioner Asfahl <br /> Staff Present: Rich Czech, Ice Arena Manager; Pat Klaers, City Administrator; Cliff <br /> Skogstad, Building Official <br /> 1. Call Meeting To Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Ice Arena <br /> Commission was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Chair Martin. <br /> 2. Consider Agenda <br /> Dale Martin indicated that he would like to discuss the status of the Zamboni <br /> under Other Business. <br /> COMMISSIONER GONGOLL MOVED TO APPROVE THE MAY 15, 1997, ICE ARENA <br /> COMMISSION AGENDA AS AMENDED. COMMISSIONER FARBER SECONDED THE <br /> • MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 3. Consider April 1, 1997, Ice Arena Commission Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER GONGOLL MOVED TO APPROVE THE APRIL 1, 1997, ICE ARENA <br /> COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 4. Heating Proposal for Locker Rooms <br /> Dale Martin reviewed the efforts of the Youth Hockey organization in evaluating <br /> proposals for heating options in the locker room area. Youth Hockey is taking the <br /> lead in financing and installing the heating. In reviewing the options, a sub floor <br /> heating alternative became available which could save the city some operating <br /> expenses. Youth Hockey felt that the city should have an opportunity to consider <br /> this option. <br /> Rich Czech indicated that the option offered will provide an additional benefit to <br /> him in the management of the arena whereby better recovery of the hot water <br /> system for the Zamboni will become available. <br /> The cost comparisons between the options and additional costs not included in <br /> the proposal were discussed and reviewed. <br /> Commissioner Gongoll left at this time (7:43 p.m.) <br /> • <br />
