MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER <br /> • HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br /> TUESDAY, JANUARY 15,2002 <br /> Members Present: Jeff Gongoll, Cliff Lundberg, Kurt Kragness, and Pat Dwyer <br /> Members Absent: Jim Nord, Bud Houlton and Cindy Olson <br /> Staff Present: Stephen Rohlf <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Joint meeting of the Elk River <br /> Planning Commission and the Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission was <br /> called to order at 6:35 p.m. <br /> 2. Consider 1/15/02 Agenda <br /> COMMISSIONER GONGOLL MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. <br /> COMMISSIONER DWYER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br /> CARRIED 4-0. <br /> • 3. Consider 12/13/01 Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER DWYER MOVED TO APPROVE THE 12/13/01 <br /> MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. COMMISSION GONGOLL SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 6. Consider Items on Planning Commission 1/29/02 Agenda (this agenda item was <br /> considered out of order) <br /> The Commission reviewed the items on the 1/29/02 Planning Commission agenda <br /> and felt there were no conflicts or issues regarding the preservation of the city's <br /> heritage with the exception of the Elk River Municipal Utilities request to build a <br /> garage on Main Street. Because this site is in the oldest area of Elk River, the <br /> Commission recommended that anything uncovered during construction that may <br /> have archeological significance be reported to the city immediately to consider <br /> whether or not further inVestigation is warranted. <br /> 4. Joint Planning Commission/Heritage Preservation Commission Meeting <br /> 5. Discuss Context Study of Elk River with City Consultant <br /> Carole Zellie of Landscape Research, city consultant, discussed the work she is <br /> doing for the city regarding a historic context study and historical survey focused <br /> • on the downtown area. Ms. Zollie explained how the work she was doing related <br /> to community planning. <br />
