MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER <br /> HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> • HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br /> THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2001 <br /> Members Present: Jim Nord, Jeff Gongoll, Cindy Olson, and Bruce Penner <br /> Members Absent: Bud Houlton, Kurt Kragness, and Pat Dwyer <br /> Staff Present: Stephen Rbhlf <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the regular meeting of the Elk River <br /> Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> 2. Consider 12/13/01 Agenda <br /> COMMISSIONER NORD MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. <br /> COMMISSIONER GONGOLL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br /> MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> 3. Consider 11/15/01 Minutes <br /> There was not a quorum of Commissioners at the November 15, 2001 meeting <br /> so an official meeting was not held and consequently no minutes were taken. <br /> 4. Consider Items on Planning Commission 12/18/01 Agenda <br /> • The Commission reviewed the items on the 12/18/01 Planning Commission <br /> agenda and felt there were no conflicts or issues regarding the preservation of the <br /> city's heritage. <br /> 5. Discuss Context Study of Elk River with City Consultant <br /> Stephen Rohlf informed the group that Carole Zellie of Landscape Research, city <br /> consultant, was unable to make the meeting. The details of the work proposed <br /> and its timing were then discussed. <br /> 6. Updates <br /> ➢ Discuss Elk River Area Rotary's Plan to Restore the Handke Stadium <br /> Cliff Lundberg informed the HPC that the Rotary Club received a $10,000 <br /> grant and has collected approximately $80,000 in donations for the <br /> restoration of Handke Stadium. The total cost of the project is estimated <br /> to be $150,000, but the Rotary plans on beginning the work next spring <br /> even if all the necessary funds are not available. <br /> • <br />
