MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER <br /> HERITAGE'PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> • HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br /> THURSDAY, MAY 10,2001 <br /> Members Present: Jim Nord, Jeff Gongoll, Cindy Olson and Bruce Penner <br /> Members Absent: Kurt Kragness, Bud Houlton and Pat Dwyer <br /> Staff Present: Stephen Rohlf <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the regular meeting of the Elk River <br /> Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> 2. Consider 5/10/01 Agenda <br /> COMMISSIONER OLSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. <br /> COMMISSIONER GONGOLL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 3. Consider 4/12/01 Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER PENNER MOVED TO APPROVE THE 4/12/01 HPC <br /> • MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. COMMISSIONER NORD SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 4. Consider Items on Planning Commission 5/22/01 Agenda <br /> The Commission reviewed the items on the 5/22/01 Planning Commission agenda <br /> and felt there were no conflicts or issues regarding the preservation of the city's <br /> heritage with the exception of the Stephan Landscape Service site. SHPO records <br /> indicate that scattered artifacts have been found at the Stephan Landscape Service <br /> site in the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4, Section 6, T33, R26. The artifacts included a <br /> Hixton ax. The HPC decided to visit the site to further investigate its potential as <br /> an archaeological site. <br /> 5. Discuss Elk River Area Rotary's Plan to Restore the Handke Stadium <br /> The Commission asked Cliff Lundberg, who was present at the meeting, to <br /> inform on to the Rotary Club that the HPC is willing to aid them in preparing a <br /> grant for this project. <br /> 6. Discuss Houlton Farm <br /> This issue was tabled until a meeting at which Bud Houlton is present. <br /> • <br />
