( <br /> ITEM #9.B.2. <br /> Ilkof MEMORANDUM <br /> lk RiverTO: Park and Recreation Commission <br /> FROM: Stephen Wensman, Planner <br /> DATE: July 14, 1999 <br /> SUBJECT: Lion's Park Improvements <br /> Overview <br /> As part of the Park of the Month discussion for Lions Park, it was determined <br /> that there was interest by the City and the Lions for a ballfield and an <br /> additional play structure in Lions Park. Also from the discussion, the Lions <br /> indicated that they were interested in making the improvements to the park <br /> on a timeline somewhat shorter than that of the City. The Park and <br /> Recreation Commission asked staff to meet with the Lions to determine the <br /> desired locations for the site amenities and their fit with the concept plan. <br /> • Staff met with Harold Gramsted of the Lions to discuss the desired locations <br /> of the proposed amenities. The ballfield location discussed is labeled <br /> "Ballfield A" on the concept plan. The play structure location is indicated by <br /> an asterisk on the concept plan (See attached concept plan). Staff believes <br /> the proposal conforms to the concept plan for Lions park. <br /> Attachments <br /> • Lions Park Concept Plan <br /> Requested Action <br /> Staff recommends that the Park and Recreation Commission endorse the <br /> locations of the proposed improvements to Lions Park with the following <br /> conditions: <br /> 1. THAT PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION,A DETAIL PLAN AND SPECIFICATIONS <br /> OF THE PLAY STRUCTURE BE REVIEWED BY THE COMMISSION AND <br /> STAFF. <br /> 2.
