The parks discussed included Trott Brook,
Hillside and Woodland Trails. The Commission directed staff to complete the
following tasks:
1. Obtain specific quotations for moving the barn to the three noted locations.
2. Discuss the relocation of the barn to Trott Brook Park with the developer.
Cost Estimates
• Phil Hals contacted Swift movers regarding costs to relocate the barn. They
estimated the cost to move the barn to Hillside or Trott Brook at $5,000. They
were hesitant about moving it to Woodland Trails. Phil is preparing estimates for
the foundation work and should be able to provide those at the meeting.
Discussions with the Developer
Staff contacted Don Patten, representative for D.R. Horton, regarding the
proposal to relocate the Devine barn onto Trott Brook Park. Mr. Patten indicated
that the developer would have no problem having a barn as a park structure. He,
in fact, found the idea quite charming.
The Devine's will be moving out of their dwelling July 1, 2000. Mr. Patten
indicated a willingness to be flexible with their development schedule in order to
provide the City additional time to relocate the barn, if necessary.
Recommendation
The Commission should provide staff with further direction regarding the
relocation of the barn.
•
S:\PLANNING\MICHMC\PARKNREC\DEVINE.DOC
13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
