Item # 9.A.3. <br /> i1ic. <br /> River <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Park and Recreation Commission <br /> FROM: Michele McPherson;Director of Planning <br /> DATE: August 8, 2001 <br /> SUBJECT: Request by Elk River High School to Run the Elk River <br /> Invitational at Woodland Trails Park <br /> Request <br /> We received a request from Mike Niziolek,Elk River High School Cross Country Coach,to <br /> reserve Woodland Trails Park from 3:30 p.m.to sundown on September 20`h to conduct the <br /> • Elk River Invitational, an annual event. <br /> The Elk River Invitational is a cross-country running race that begins on the golf course <br /> driving range and utilizes the trails through Woodland Trails Park. It is anticipated that up <br /> to 250 kids will participate in this race from 8 different schools. <br /> As in years past, we will require that signage be in place to alert other park users of this <br /> event. We will also require the$50 reservation fee and deposit be paid prior to use of the <br /> park. <br /> Recommendation <br /> Staff recommends that the Commission endorse the request for the Elk River Invitational <br /> on September 20, 2001. <br /> • <br /> S:\PLANNING\MICHMC\PARKNREC\Niziolek2.doc <br />
