• Item # 9.B.4.
City of
Elk ---
Rives
MEMORANDUM
TO: Park and Recreati.commission
FROM: Michele McPherC Director of Planning
DATE: May 8, 2002
SUBJECT: Consider Park Dedication for Preliminary Plat— Case No.
P 02-10, Grace Addition
Request
The Commission is asked to consider park dedication for the preliminary plat of Grace
• Addition.
Attachments
• Location Map
• Preliminary Plat of Grace Addition
Analysis
The subject property is located east of the Royal Oaks Ridge subdivision and west of County
Road 13 near the Tyler Street intersection. The property is currently vacant and totals
approximately 33.91 acres. It is owned by Grace Assembly of God Church. As the
Commission is aware, the City has been negotiating with the church for over two years in
regards to the City purchasing a portion of the property for park purposes. Members of the
Commission have walked the site with staff and have found that the property is unique in its
topography and vegetative characteristics and the Commission has recommended to the City
Council that a purchase be arranged.
Staff has worked with the church to identify an 11 acre parcel in the northwest portion of
the site for purchase by the City. This 11 acres will have access to 190th Avenue NW for
pedestrian access to the park and also provides an area that is predominantly high and dry.
No development plans have been developed by staff for this park, however, discussion has
included a playground, pickup ball field, park shelter, etc.
•
S:\PLANNING\Case Files\P 02-10 Grace Addition\5-8 P&R.doc
