Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk-Water Superintendent John Dietz-Chair Al Nadeau-Vice Chair Daryl Thompson-Trustee MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: June 10, 2014 6.1e SUBJECT: Staff Update DISCUSSION: • Delivered 1 new residential water meter. • Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from 1 water service. • Shut off 2 water services and 1 electric service, also turned on 2 water services and 1 electric service. • Went on 13 service calls. • Completed 25 BACTI/Tota1 Chlorine Residual Samples; all confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples. All samples met MDH standards. • The operators completed the repairs at Well#7. We are now waiting on the control company to finish the SCADA upgrades and the removal of old controls. • The new shut-off valve has been installed at Well#7. The old 16"butterfly valve was removed and replaced with a new 16" gate valve and 4" equalizer valve. I've attached some pictures of the replacement process. • Hydrant flushing was completed the week of May 5th..-9 th. Water operators have now begun the annual hydrant maintenance, which consists of fixing the broken ones and completing preventative maintenance on 200 hydrants. They will also complete the preventative maintenance for our customers who signed up for the private hydrant maintenance program,bringing the total number of hydrants maintained up to 330. • We are once again selling rain barrels to customers who are interested in conserving water. Of the 40 rain barrels we ordered, 25 have been sold so far. • Alex Smith, our seasonal worker, started on June 9`h.
