Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk-Water Superintendent <br /> John Dietz-Chair <br /> Al Nadeau-Vice Chair <br /> Daryl Thompson-Trustee <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> June 10, 2014 6.1e <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • Delivered 1 new residential water meter. <br /> • Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from 1 water service. <br /> • Shut off 2 water services and 1 electric service, also turned on 2 water services and 1 <br /> electric service. <br /> • Went on 13 service calls. <br /> • Completed 25 BACTI/Tota1 Chlorine Residual Samples; all confirmed negative for <br /> Coliform Bacteria. <br /> • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples. All samples met MDH standards. <br /> • The operators completed the repairs at Well#7. We are now waiting on the control <br /> company to finish the SCADA upgrades and the removal of old controls. <br /> • The new shut-off valve has been installed at Well#7. The old 16"butterfly valve was <br /> removed and replaced with a new 16" gate valve and 4" equalizer valve. I've attached <br /> some pictures of the replacement process. <br /> • Hydrant flushing was completed the week of May 5th..-9 th. Water operators have now <br /> begun the annual hydrant maintenance, which consists of fixing the broken ones and <br /> completing preventative maintenance on 200 hydrants. They will also complete the <br /> preventative maintenance for our customers who signed up for the private hydrant <br /> maintenance program,bringing the total number of hydrants maintained up to 330. <br /> • We are once again selling rain barrels to customers who are interested in conserving <br /> water.
