City of <br /> Elk - Request for Action <br /> River O. <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 6.113 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Presentations,Awards, June 2, 2014 Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> and Recognition <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Introduce New Employee Kristofer Paulseth Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hecker will introduce Kristofer Paulseth, our new Parks <br /> Maintenance Worker. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> Kristofer Paulseth began employment on May 6, 2014. <br /> Mr. Paulseth holds a degree in biology/environmental studies and has a variety of work and volunteer <br /> experience including working with Anoka County Parks, the MN Department of Natural Resources, and <br /> MN Conservation Corps. He has also worked as a carpenter and spent time in Minnesota's northwoods <br /> building trails and working on a forest-wide tree identification project. <br /> The city went to market for this position in January and received 207 applications. The pool of applicants <br /> was narrowed to 17 who were invited to interview, 15 of which accepted.
