City°r Memorandum• <br /> Elk <br /> River <br /> To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> From: Michael Hecker,Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Date: May 14,2014 <br /> Subject: Parks and Recreation Master Plan Report <br /> The Parks and Recreation Master Plan Committee include Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Michael Hecker,Recreation Manager Steve Benoit,Parks Supervisor Rodney Schreifels,Park <br /> Planner Chris Leeseberg and Park Commission Members,Mark Ahlness and Ryan <br /> Holmgren. <br /> The time frame for this project is January 2014 to September 2014. <br /> Elk River Parks and Recreation staff,along with planning consultant, Hoisington Koegler <br /> Group Inc.,met Monday,May 5 with area artists and stakeholders to discuss the role of <br /> public art in the community. The meeting resulted in a fruitful discussion identifying goals, <br /> strategies,themes,potential locations as well as partnership opportunities. <br /> Preliminary results of the community survey will be presented to the master plan committee <br /> at a meeting on Monday,May 12. Mark and Ryan will report the highlights of this meeting <br /> to the Parks and Recreation Commission on May 14. <br /> A feedback session for the Trail Park Stewards, their volunteers and staff will be scheduled <br /> in the coming month. <br /> A focus group session (work session) for the Parks and Recreation Commission is scheduled <br /> for Wednesday,June 11. This will be a work session scheduled at 5:30 pm prior to the <br /> regular meeting. <br /> A Community Open House is scheduled for Wednesday,June 25 at 5—8 pm.
