City of <br /> Elk Request for Action <br /> River <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 6.1 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Presentations,Awards, May 5, 2014 Suzanne Fischer,Director, CODD <br /> Recognitions <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Proclaim May 9, 2014, as Gary Leirmoe Day Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Mayor and City Council to present retirement plaque to Elk River WW"IP Chief Operator Gary Leirmoe <br /> and proclaim Friday,May 9, 2014, as Gary Leirmoe Day in the City of Elk River. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> Elk River's Chief Wastewater Operator Gary Leirmoe is retiring on May 9, 2014, after almost 21 years of <br /> service to the city. <br /> During his tenure with the city he has been part of six plant expansions and addressed countless service <br /> calls for blocked pipes and plugged pumps. <br /> Gary's experience and institutional knowledge has been instrumental in successfully managing daily <br /> operations as well as leading and developing his staff In 2001, the Elk River wastewater treatment plant <br /> won top plant in Region 6 and placed 2nd nationally. Also,under his direction,the plant has been <br /> recognized with a Certificate of Commendation for complying with MPCA's Permit Program fourteen <br /> times since 1979. <br /> Although Gary is retiring from his position,it is evident that he is proud of the position he held at the <br /> plant all these years. <br /> A farewell party for staff and public to honor Gary will be held on May 8 at City Hall. <br /> Financial Impact <br /> None. <br /> Attachments <br /> ■ Plaque Language <br /> P a w E A E U a r <br /> Template Updated 4/14 INIM UREI <br />
