Item # 9.B.I.
City of
Elk .
River
MEMORANDUM
TO: Park and Recreation Commission
FROM: Michele McPhersotit, Director of Planning
DATE: July 10, 2002
SUBJECT: Case No. P 02-17
Consider Park Dedication — Preliminary Plat, Elk Meadows
Request
The Commission is asked to consider park dedication for a 5-lot subdivision titled "Elk
Meadows".
Attachments
• Location Map
• Preliminary Plat
• Park Service Area Map
Analysis
The Preliminary Plat of Elk Meadows is located south of County Road 12 and west of
Kliever Lake Fields. In order to provide street access to the subdivision, 180th Avenue will
be extended westerly out of Kliever Lake Fields.
The proposed subdivision will include five lots; one for an existing home fronting on
County Road 12; and four with access on the newly extended 180` Avenue NW.
As can be seen on the Park Service Area Map,this property is not within a park service area;
neither was Kliever Lake Fields. The City obtained 8 acres for a neighborhood park from
the Kliever Lake Fields subdivision. This parcel is less than an eighth of a mile from the
Kliever Lake Fields Park. Staff, therefore, suggests cash as the most appropriate means of
park dedication for this plat.
