./j
City of
Elk
River
MEMORANDUM
TO: Park and Recreation Commission
FROM: Michele Bergh, Recreation Manager
DATE: November 7, 2003
SUBJECT: Recreation Department Update
Referral Promo and New Resident Promo
To thank those that refer others to our programs,we are now sending out postcards worth
$5 off a future registration anytime someone mentions that someone else referred them. We
realize that word of mouth is the best advertising and really want to let our customers know
how much we appreciate it.
We are also sending out postcards worth$5 of a future registration to anyone who lets us
know that they are new to the community and are not already in our system. We thought
this would be a nice way to welcome them into the community.
Family Fright Night
This event was a huge success. We had almost twice the participants this year over last year,
totally approximately 570. We had about 100 volunteers who helped make this event a
success. Sherbume County STS came out on Monday to do some final clean up. The
country club was a nice addition this year with bingo, crafts, concessions, and a place to
warm up after being out in the cold.
January-February Program Guide
This will be going to the printer on November 12th and will be delivered the first Wednesday
in December.
Cabin Fever
This is our next big event. We have 13 businesses/organizations participating so far. These
will be listed in our January-February Program Guide; however,we are still working on
adding businesses/organizations. We will be able to take additional participants until mid-
December when we put together the remainder of the marketing materials.
