Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Troy Adams, P.E.—General Manager <br /> John Dietz—Chair <br /> Al Nadeau—Vice Chair <br /> Daryl Thompson—Trustee <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> November 12, 2013 6.1a <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Updates—General Manager <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • As a follow-up to the electric assessment agenda item from last month's Commission <br /> meeting, the electric assessment ordinance addition was adopted by City Council on <br /> October 21, 2013. <br /> • The Minnesota Municipal Transmission Group (MMTG) Annual Meeting is scheduled <br /> for November 22, 2013. The meeting is held in Mason City, IA. As of now because I am <br /> on the MMTG Executive Board of Directors as the Vice President, I am planning on <br /> making the day trip for the meeting. <br /> • On November 12, there is a CAPX2020 conference call hosted by Central Minnesota <br /> Municipal Power Agency (CMMPA) that I will be participating in. The meeting is <br /> regarding our current ownership rights and some potential options. <br /> • The Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association(MMUA) 2013 Technical & Operations <br /> Conference is scheduled for December 10-12, 2013, in St. Cloud, MN. The conference <br /> brochure is attached. I am currently the on the MMUA Executive Board of Directors as <br /> the Secretary/Treasurer and will be attending their board meeting on the morning of the <br /> 10th prior to the conference. Mark Fuchs and Wade Lovelette will also be attending the <br /> conference. <br /> • The final for the rehabilitation of the Freeport Water Tower has been completed. ERMU, <br /> Badger State Inspection(BSI), and Odland Protective Coating(OPC) met to discuss <br /> project discrepancies and damages. An agreement was reached with Odland. It was <br /> agreed that OPC would be responsible for$13,513, half of the additional <br /> engineering/inspections costs due to the project extending beyond the scheduled <br /> completion date. <br /> • Attached are two articles from American Public Power Association (APPA)regarding <br /> Boulder, CO, and their efforts to create a municipal electric utility as well as additional <br /> industry articles. <br /> e3 Page 1 oft NATURE <br /> Powerr Pwide� <br /> P OWFREO TO SERVE <br /> 81 <br />
