City of <br /> Elk Request for Action <br /> River <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 4.9 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Consent January 6, 2014 Suzanne Fischer,Director, Community Operations <br /> and Development Department <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Resolution to Amend Resolution 07-88 Establishing Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Meeting Dates for the Heritage Preservation Reviewed by <br /> Commission <br /> Action Requested <br /> Adopt by motion attached Resolution amending the meeting dates and times of the Heritage Preservation <br /> Commission. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> The Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) is requesting a change in their meeting schedule from <br /> monthly to quarterly (and as needed) meetings. Due to personal work schedules and limited agenda items <br /> the Commission agreed a quarterly schedule is more appropriate. <br /> Per Section 2-215. Meetings and rules of procedure. <br /> The heritage preservation commission shall meet at least four times each calendar year, at <br /> such time and place as the commission shall determine. Notice of the commission meetings shall be <br /> communicated to the members,posted at city hall, and published in the city's official newspaper at <br /> least three days prior to the meeting. Except as provided in this division, all commission meetings <br /> shall be governed and operated pursuant to Robert's Rules of Order,Newly Revised (ninth edition) <br /> and open to the public. <br /> (Code 1982, §215.08) <br /> State law reference—Permissible powers for heritage preservation commission, Minn. Stats. §471.193, subd. 3. <br /> HPC meetings will continue to be at 6:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month but only in January, <br /> April,July and October. If additional meetings are required, the HPC will call a `Special Meeting' and <br /> notice accordingly.
