Call Meeting to Order <br /> The Elk River Planning Commission workshop was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by <br /> Chair Anderson. <br /> 2. Consider 10/22/13 Planning Commission Agenda <br /> The October 22,2013 Agenda was approved as presented. <br /> 3. Request by City of Elk River for an Ordinance Amendment to the <br /> City's Land Use Regulations Regarding Signs, Case No. OA 13-02 — <br /> Public Hearing <br /> Chair Anderson highlighted the need to review the proposed ordinance as a global <br /> document,and not to focus on a specific issue or application. <br /> Planning Intern Carlton highlighted the main issues identified by the Commission at the <br /> October 8th Planning Commission meeting,including wall signage area,window sign area, <br /> cabinet signs,and offsite advertising signs. <br /> Park Planner/Planner Leeseberg reviewed the downtown freestanding signage issue. <br /> The Planning Commission discussed options,needs and desires. <br /> By consensus,the Planning Commission directed staff to prepare an ordinance amendment <br /> that included the following,to be voted on at the next Commission meeting: <br /> • 50%window signage maximum <br /> • 10%wall signage maximum <br /> • Temporary signs maximum size—56 square feet <br /> • No cabinet signs in the downtown <br /> • No billboards in the CRT area <br />
