Elk River
Municipal Utilities
322 King.Avenue phone: 763.441.2020
Elk River,MN 55330 Fax:763.441.8099
May 30, 2003
To: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission
John Dietz
Jerry Takie
James Tralle
From: Bryan C. Adams
Subject: Co. Rd. 13 Project
At the May 13, 2003, Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission meeting. authorization
to secure bids for the Co. Rd. 13 electric feeder construction was given. By state statute,
any project over $50,000, must go thru a"formal bidding process," instead of just
securing proposals. Bids for this project were received on May 28, 2003. A bid
tabulation is attached reflecting the results.
The low bidder qualified their bid to include extra compensation for unexpected buried
obstruction (rocks, buried concrete, buried asphalt, etc.). The other bidders follow the
specifications where the bidder assumes this risk. Staff recommends the lowest
responsive bidder, MP NexLevel, be awarded the contract. We have worked with this
contractor in the past with good results.
