RESOLUTION 04-04 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER A RESOLUTION OF CONTINUING SUPPORT FOR THE NORTHSTAR CORRIDOR WHEREAS, The City of Elk River, Minnesota, a member of the Northstar Corridor Development Authority (NCDA), continues its support for the Corridor from Minneapolis to the Greater St. Cloud area, thus passing through Elk River, to link the economic, employment, health and educational center of Central Minnesota with the Twin Cities Metropolitan area; and WHEREAS, past state and federal legislation defined the Northstar Corridor Project to be from Minneapolis to Rice, Minnesota; however, recent changes in Federal Transit Administration regulations has required further evaluation and analysis of the Northstar Project; and WHEREAS, such further evaluation has resulted in project modification including a new northerly terminus at Big Lake, Minnesota, and elimination of stations at Foley Boulevard and North East Minneapolis in order to meet the revised FTA criteria for project recommendation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council for the City of Elk River, Minnesota, 1. That the City of Elk River supports the current development of the Northstar Corridor from Minneapolis to Big Lake with a station to be located in Elk River; and That the City of Elk River continues to support efforts to fund and develop the Northstar Corridor from Minneapolis to the Greater St. Cloud area; and That this resolution be adopted by the City of Elk River and submitted to Governor Pawlenty, Senator Betsy Wergin, Senator Mike Jungbauer, Representative Mark Olson, Representative Tom Hackbarth, and the Northstar Corridor Development Authority as indication of the City of Elk River's ongoing support of the NCDA's efforts.
