Pover <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Item 5.5. <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />Pat Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />January l2,2004 <br /> <br />Discussion on Work Program(Brimeyer Report) <br /> <br />This past fall, the City Council authorized the hiring of Jim Brimeyer of The Brimeyer Group, Inc. <br />to complete an assessment of city organizational issues. In this regard, Mr. Brirneyer met with the <br />City Council to discuss the scope of the project; received written feedback from department heads <br />and the City Council to a questionnaire which he authored; organized this feedback and presented <br />the information to the Council; and then presented a work program recommendation to the <br />Council. The work program covered organizational management, Council/staff relations, and <br />governance issues. This work program was presented to the department heads on December 16, <br />2003. This work program has not been discussed joindy by the City Council and City Administrator <br />nor has it been formally approved. <br /> <br />Mayor Nlinzing has requested this item be on the agenda for Council discussion as to how we <br />should proceed. Some of the time frames in the work plan need to be reviewed, as does any level of <br />professional assistance that is necessary to implement various components of the work plan. <br />Whether the Council xvants to discuss these issues in a ~vorksession at the end of a Council meeting <br />or at a special meeting should be part of the discussion on January 12, 2004. <br /> <br />S:~CouncilNPat~2004Nbrimeyer~vorkprog.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
