Rolfe, Chief of Police <br />I TEM D ESCRIPTION R EVIEWED B y <br /> <br />Hire Police Officer <br />R EVIEWED BY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AR <br />CTION EQUESTED <br />Approve by motion to hire entry level police officer William Koch, effective April 15, 2013. <br /> <br />B/D <br />ACKGROUNDISCUSSION <br />With the retirement of Sergeant Jeff Mordal on March 30, 2013, and the promotion of a patrol <br />officer to fill that position, a vacancy exists in the position of Patrol Officer. One of the top <br />candidates from the 2012 selection process to fill a previous vacancy remains available. <br /> <br />William Koch is an 18-year veteran police officer. He has been employed by the Anoka Police <br />Department for the last 14 years. Officer Koch has extensive training and experience. He holds <br />an AAS degree in law enforcement from North Hennepin Community College. He is currently a <br />Field Training Officer, SWAT team member, Use of Force/Firearms Instructor, Active Shooter <br />Instructor, and TASER Instructor. He is a former police K-9 handler, drug task force officer, <br />and school liaison officer. <br /> <br />Officer Koch has successfully passed a background investigation, psychological, and physical <br />exams. After giving proper notification to his current employer, Officer Koch would start on <br />April 15, 2013. <br /> <br />FI <br />INANCIAL MPACT <br />This is a budgeted position.
