<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR ACTION <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />T O I TEM N UMBER <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council 4.5 <br />A GENDA S ECTION M EETING D ATE P REPARED BY <br /> <br />ConsentMarch 18, 2013Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Director <br />I TEM D ESCRIPTION R EVIEWED B y <br /> <br />Resolution Accepting Storage Unit Donation to Elk River Parks Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />and Recreation Department <br />R EVIEWED BY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AR <br />CTION EQUESTED <br />Adopt by motion the attached resolution accepting the storage unit donation valued at $1,000 to be <br />installed at the Youth Athletic Complex (YAC) football field from the Elk River Youth Football <br />Association. <br /> <br />B/D <br />ACKGROUNDISCUSSION <br />Staff was approached in February by the Elk River Youth Football Association to donate a used metal <br />storage container for the Youth Athletic Complex football field. They will share it with the city to be used <br />for both football and athletic field supplies. It is a storage container 8 x 8 in size with the estimated value <br />of $1,000. The exact location of the storage unit is in the opposite corner of the scoreboard as shown on <br />the attached site plan. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Minnesota State Statute §465.03, the resolution requires adoption by a 2/3 majority vote. <br /> <br />The Football Association placed storage units at the same site in past years to store equipment. This <br />donation was discussed and recommended by the Parks and Recreation Commission at the March 13 <br />meeting. <br /> <br />FI <br />INANCIAL MPACT <br />The purchase of the storage unit does not require a financial contribution by the city. The city will assist <br />in the installation of the storage unit at the proper site and it will require little or no maintenance annually. <br />The only maintenance expected is cleaning and exterior painting of the unit.
