Due to its age, some of the major
components in the system are worn to the point where they no longer operate, which impacts the quality
of the ice surface and decreases the efficiency of the ice-making plant.
The wet, warm air speeds the thaw of the ice which makes for a bad ice surface and creates the need for
the ice plant to work harder and longer to hold proper ice temperature, using more electricity.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
$64,000 was budgeted in the Arena's 2013 budget to rebuild the dehumidifier. Per state statute,we
sought and received two quotes, the lowest being from Midwest Mechanical Solutions for $65,416.81.
ATTACHMENTS
• Price quote - Midwest Mechanical Solutions
• Price quote -American Industrial Refrigeration Mechanical Contractors
Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
N:\Public Bodies\City Council\Council RCA\Agenda Packet\03-04-2013\4.6.docx
