Each course covers as many hours as an average college class, and <br /> culminates in a final examination. Courses teach crucial economic development fmance skills. <br /> Staff would like to request that Clay Wilfahrt,Assistant Director of Economic Development,be <br /> authorized to attend two 2013 NDC training courses—Business Credit Analysis and The Art of Deal <br /> Structuring. Both courses are part of a four-course Economic Development Finance Professional <br /> certification. Information about each course is attached. <br /> Economic development fmance is an essential function of the Assistant Director position. Job duties <br /> such as administering the micro-loan fund,assisting prospective clients through the development process <br /> and marketing financing programs all rely heavily on knowledge of economic development financing. <br /> The NDC coursework will help Mr. Wilfahrt establish better understanding of all of these topics. <br /> Following the completion of these two courses, the National Development Council will certify Mr. <br /> Wilfahrt as an Economic Development Finance Professional. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT <br /> Staff budgeted$6,800 for NDC training costs in 2013. The total cost of the two training courses for Mr. <br /> Wilfahrt would be$5,804 as outlined in the attached document. Staff will be applying for an Initiative <br /> Foundation grant to cover the$2,250 cost of tuition for the courses. <br /> Real Estate Finance will take place from March 11 to March 15, and Economic Development Finance <br /> will take place from October 7 to 11. <br /> r O / E A E II i t <br /> NAME <br />
