MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Heritage Preservation Commission <br />FROM Rebecca Haug, Environmental Administrator <br />DATE: August 9, 2012 <br />SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder —August 16, 2012 <br />This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Elk <br />River City Hall in the Uppertown Conference Room. Please see the attached agenda and minutes. <br />STAFF UPDATES <br />I. ELK RIVER WATER TOWER UPDATE <br />Staff met with Gary Meyer, a water tower contractor and contacted TMI Coatings to get an estimate <br />on the cost to restore the water tower. Mr. Meyer suggested moving the water tower and lowering <br />it. Staff informed him that is not possible because of the NRHP status. Both contractors will be <br />providing us with estimates but Mr. Meyer's initial estimate is $400,000. <br />The HPC needs to discuss fundraising opportunities. <br />2. PLANNING COMMISSION ITEMS <br />No items on the Planning Commission agenda for discussion. <br />3. DOWTOWN TASK FORCE UPDATE <br />The next meeting is scheduled for August 27, 2012. Jeremy Barnhart, Planning Manager will be <br />presenting the Downtown Plan to the HPC at the September 20, 2012 meeting. <br />4. BAILEY POINT & HOULTON PROPERTY UPDATE <br />Staff will give updates during the meeting. <br />S. PRESERVE MN — THE 32 "D ANNUAL STATEWIDE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />CONFERENCE <br />The Conference is scheduled for Thursday & Friday, September 13 -14, 2012 at the Center for the Arts <br />in Fergus Falls, MN. In order to maintain our Certified Local Government (CLG) status, one HPC <br />Commissioner must attend. Staff is in the process of applying for scholarships and need to know who <br />will be available to attend. <br />If you have any questions or are unable to attend, please call Rebecca at (763) 635 -1068.
