RESOLUTION 02- 27 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A PRECINCT PLAN <br /> FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />precincts are the basic geographical units for organizing and <br />administering elections; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />precinct boundaries are partially designed by the city and partially the <br />result of various requirements in state statutes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />as a result of the increase in population as determined by the 2000 <br />census, the City of Elk River has redistricted its four wards as indicated <br />by Ordinance 02-03; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />as a result of redistricting by the State of Minnesota, the City has been <br />split by Senate Districts 16 and 48 and by Legislative Districts 16B and <br />48A; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />due to the increase in population in the City and because of the City <br />being split by State and Legislative Districts, it is necessary to develop a <br />precinct plan for the City of Elk River. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Elk <br />River does hereby adopt the proposed 8 precincts; Precincts IA, lB, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, <br />and 4B as described on Attachment A. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution shall <br />become effective on September 10, 2002, the date of the state pr/mary election according to <br />M.S. 204B.14, subd. 3c. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this 8~h day of April, 2002. <br /> <br />e A. i~' 'zing~yo~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Sanclra A.
