April 23, 2012 <br />SUBJECT: .Executive Director Update <br />The purpose of this periodic memorandum is to keep the EDA and HRA informed of <br />various ongoing activities that often go on behind the scenes in the Economic Development <br />Division. EDA and HRA Commissioners should feel free to bring up any questions or <br />issues for discussion under the "Other Business".section of the Agenda. <br />Potential Crystal Distribution- Inc. (CDILpansion <br />At their .February 21, 2012, meeting, the City Council approved an administrative <br />subdivision. for lot 1, Block 1, in Northstar Business Park for .the potential expansion of <br />CDI, located on the parcel immediately south. This subdivision would result in two parcels; <br />The northernmost of the two, is 7.33 acres, and the other is 4.8 acres. This split will occur <br />only if CDI moves forward with their proposed expansion. <br />Since the meeting, CDT has indicated that their plans have slowed down, and that they are <br />unsure as to when they plan to move forward. Staff will update the EDA as more <br />information is obtained. <br />~ortech, Inc. <br />At their Apri116, 2012, meeting, the City Council approved an ordinance amendment to <br />rezone the old Maxsun building from PUD to Business Park. Sportech will be moving into <br />the building to increase their manufacturing, as well as add additional warehouse space. <br />Future industrial park site identification <br />Highlighted as a goal in the 2009-2012 Strategic Plan, staff is working to identify future sites <br />for a potential industrial park. Economic Development staff is working with the <br />Environmental and Planning Departments on potential wetland banking as well. Once <br />conversations are complete with property owners regarding this matter, staff will move <br />forward with discussions regarding potential land acquisition. The properties in question are <br />land which would be highly desirable for a data center. <br />rowEOEO er <br />NA~~~~ <br />
