REQUEST FOR ACTION
TO ITEM NUMBER
Ma or and Ci Council 4.4
AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY
Consent Aril 16, 2012 erem Barnhart, Plannln Mana er
ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED By
Request for Authorization to Complete Ordinance Amendments Cal Portner, Ci Administrator
Related to Commercial Recreation Land Uses REVIEWED BY
ACTION REQUESTED
Request for authorization to review and recommend changes to the way Commercial Recreation uses are
administered and located throughout the city.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Currently, the city zoning ordinance lists commercial or physical recreation type uses in seven different
zoning districts, and under 13 different land use names, five of which are defined.
This type of distribution and description is unnecessarily difficult to administer and often confusing to
the land or business owner. Further, it is possible that the current City Council does not share the same
opinion of these uses as the Council in place when they were originally created.
With authorization, staff will prepare a comprehensive recommendation for amendments to the
definitions and where these uses should be located within the city.
Staff will base its recommendation as to locations based on the assumption that these are desired uses
within the city, the building or land form necessary to accommodate the use, and other factors including
traffic, parking, lighting, utility needs.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None, although codifying the changes will involve publication costs, which are undetermined.
ATTACHMENTS
^ Commercial Recreation Spreadsheet
Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
N:\Public Bodies\City Council\Council RCA\Agenda Packet\0416-2012\Request fox Action OA authroization .Commercial Recreation 416-
12.docx
