REQUEST FOR ACTION <br />TO ITEM I~IUMBER <br />Ma or and Ci Council 4.3 <br />AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY <br />Consent March 5, 2012 T. ohn Cunnin ham, Fire Chief <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED By <br />Fire Department SW Purchase Cal Portner, Ci Administrator <br /> REVIEWED BY <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />Approve the purchase of a Chevrolet Tahoe, 4x4, in the amount of $30,137.25 and authorize the set-up <br />and equipping of the purchased vehicle from budgeted funds in the Equipment Replacement Fund. <br />BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION <br />The requested purchase is part of the approved 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund. The replacement <br />plan has previously been discussed with the Council. <br />The new Chevrolet Tahoe will be assigned to the Fire Department, replacing a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. <br />The 2003 Tahoe will be reassigned to the Building Safety Division and one of the Building Safety <br />Division vehicles will be reassigned to the Pinewood Golf Course to replace a 1997 Ford Ranger. <br />The recommended replacement cycle for administrative/command vehicles for the Fire Department is <br />seven years. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Funds are budgeted in the 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund in the amount of $40,000 for this <br />replacement. These funds will cover the cost of the vehicle purchase, old vehicle tear down, new vehicle <br />equipment and setup, graphics, and other expenses associated with the purchase.
