Rolfe, Chief of Police ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED By Police Department Squad Cax Purchases Cal Poxtnex, Ci ~ Administrator REVIEWED BY ACTION REQUESTED Approve the purchase of the following 2012 police vehicles from the state contract per the 2012 Capital Improvement Plan: Two -Chevrolet Tahoes (police package squads) - $25,761.95 each One -Chevrolet Tahoe (street appearance squad) - $25,370.95 Two -Chevrolet Impalas (LS sedans) - $18,150.46 each With further authorization to set up and equip the purchased vehicles from budgeted funds in the Equipment Replacement Fund. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION The requested purchases axe part of the approved 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund. The replacement plan has previously been discussed with Council. The two 2012 police package Chevrolet Tahoes will be assigned to the four patrol sergeants. The 2010 Crown Victorias currently used by the sergeants will be reassigned to the patrol fleet. The 2012 street appearance package Chevrolet Tahoe will be assigned to the patrol captain. The patrol captain's current Ford Explorer will be reassigned to replace a high mileage CSO vehicle. The two 2012 Chevrolet Impala sedans will replace two current Chevrolet Impala sedans assigned to the detective unit. The older Impalas may be reassigned to the city administrative motor pool or sold at auction. FINANCIAL IMPACT Funds axe budgeted in the 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund in the amount of $99,000 fox the 3 Tahoes and $50,000 fox the two Impalas. These funds cover the cost of vehicle purchase, old squad tear down, new squad set up, gxaphics(whexe applicable), and other expenses associated with squad replacement.
