This conference serves as MMUA's organized <br />joint action opportunity to inform our state legislators of municipal public power's concerns and <br />utilities related state legislation's impact to main street in our communities. The morning of <br />Thursday February 90', the conference attendees will travel to the State Capitol and meet with <br />our local legislators and the legislative leadership. The conference brochure is attached. <br />On December 2, 2011, ERMU's legal counsel and I attended the MMUA 2011 Legal Seminar. <br />The seminar program included the following topics: Disaster Management, Utilities and Real <br />Property Litigafion, Utilities Finance, Employment Law, Government Data Practices, and Utility <br />Billing. Attendance was well worth my 6me to become updated and informed on these topics <br />and their legal concerns. A few items to note, the Utilities and the City of Ells River should look <br />into a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual aid pertaining to disaster management and <br />management should have some level of reoccurring training on employment law. <br />
