RESOLUTION #I 1-~_ <br />RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ELK RIVER TO APPLY <br />FOR THE ELECTION ASSISTANCE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH <br />DISABILITIES (EAID) GRANT THROUGH THE MINNESOTA <br />SECRETARY OF STATE <br />WHEREAS, the Of&ce of the Minnesota Secretary of State is soliciting grant proposals <br />from cities specifically for physical polling place accessibility improvements <br />fox individuals with disabilities and fox polling place enhancements; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a need fox Lions Park Center to improve access to the polling place <br />for persons with disabilities; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Elk River City Council authorizes <br />the following: <br />a) Apply fox a grant from the Office of the Secretary of State of Minnesota fox Federal <br />funds pursuant to Title II, Section 261 of the Help America Vote Act for the sole <br />purpose of improving access to polling places in this city for persons with <br />disabilities; <br />b) Enter into an agreement with the Office of the Secretary of State governing the <br />receipt, expenditure, reimbursement and reporting of such a giant; <br />c) Receive and account separately in a manner sufficient to meet generally accepted <br />govertunent accounting principles sufficient to pass federal audit; and <br />d) Expend any sums received in the manner indicated in the giant application and <br />agreement with the Office of the Secretary of State. <br />Passed and adopted this 17`" day of October, 2011. <br />J hn J. etz, Mayor <br />Attest: <br />Tina Allard, tty Clerk <br />
