Item # 6 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />ttiver <br />TO: Economic Development Authority <br />FROM: Annie Deckert, Director of Economic Development <br />DATE: 11 July 2011 <br />SUBJECT: Discussion of EDA Donation Policy <br />At the June 13~' Economic Development Authority meeting, the EDA directed staff to <br />research a donation policy. Research of other communities show that it is not common <br />practice for communities to consider requests for contributions and simply have a `no <br />donation' policy. Discussion with City Attorney Peter Beck indicated that he does not <br />recommend the EDA have a written donation policy, however the EDA could consider <br />requests on a case by case basis. <br />Options for discussion: <br />• No donation policy <br />• Donation requests considered on a case by case basis <br />• Written donation policy <br />In the past, the EDA has contributed $6,000 annually to the Community 4`'' of July <br />Celebration and have considered other requests on a case by case basis. <br />If the EDA chooses to move forward with a written donation policy, staff will bring back a <br />policy for review at a later date. <br />
