Identify the primary corridors as: Highway 10, Highway 169, Main Street, School Street <br />2. Staff to initiate the review of properties for compliance with the sign ordinance and issue <br />notification letters to those inconsistent with the requirements. <br />3. Staff to initiate the review of properties for property maintenance standards. <br />4. Review development applications, identify ways to meet address design, landscaping, lighting, <br />and property maintenance standards <br />BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION <br />Included among the 2011 Vision and Goals as adopted by the Council on May 16, 2011 was direction to <br />"actively enforce zoning standards on primary corridors." (C8) This task correlated to the beautification <br />goal, to "have attractive, welcoming streetscapes at City entrances and primary corridors. Enforce zoning <br />ordinances" <br />In response, staff proposes the 4 steps above. <br />Items two (2) and three (3) will be ongoing, but will begin immediately. The Council should recognize <br />the primary departure from current practice: Code enforcement staff will not wait for a complaint to be <br />received.
