INFORMATION ~.'~` MEMORANDUM TO: City Council FROM: Public Works Facility Committee DATE: March 21, 201 I SUBJECT: Commissioning and Construction Manager at Risk Update As a follow up to the information that was discussed at the March 14, 2011 Council workshop, we have prepared this memo to further detail the specific steps we will be taking to secure a Construction Manager at Risk and a firm to complete the commissioning of the facility. With direction received at the March 14, 2011 meeting, we are preparing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Construction Manager at Risk. We will draft a RFP and upon completion we will advertise the RFP, review proposals, interview select candidates, and bring a recommendation to the Council in early May. The proposal submitted by the 292 Design Group does not include commissioning of the facility. Commissioning as detailed in the staff memo, from the February 14, 2011 Council workshop, was listed as an additional costs and was estimated at $27,000 to $45,000 depending on the scope of service requested. The approval given by the Council at this meeting was to proceed with acceptance of the base proposal from the 292 Design Group. In discussions at the March 14, 2011 workshop, we understand the Council would like to proceed with completing commissioning of the facility from the initial planning stages through final construction. We will gather quotes from qualified firms capable of completing this service on our behalf. We will bring these proposals back for the Council's consideration in May 2011.
