REQUEST FOR ACTION <br />TO ITEM NUMBER <br />Ci Council 3.4.A. <br />AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY <br />Consent February 22, 2011 Steve Benoit, Recreation Manager <br /> Rodne Schreifels, Parks Su ervisor <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED By <br />Hillside City Park Phase 2 Grant Support Resolution Request Tim Simon, Finance Director <br /> REVIEWED BY <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />Staff is seeking a resolution of support to proceed with applying for a Federal Recreational Trail Grant <br />through the DNR Division of Parks and Trails. <br />BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION <br />This grant would secure funds to aid in the installation of drinking water at the Hillside City Park front <br />parking lot which would aid both general park users, as well as races held at the Park. Originally this <br />request was also to include funds fox additional supply storage to support the volunteer group that <br />maintains the park. After discussions with DNR staff, it was determined that the storage unit does not fit <br />into the grant eligibility requirements. Staff will be researching other options to provide needed storage <br />for the volunteer group. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The grant amount being applied for would be approximately $13,000.
