ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Michele Bergh, Recreation Manager <br />DATE: June 1, 2006 <br />SUBJECT: Staff Report <br />Hot Topic(s) of the Month <br />Mold Abatement at Lions Paxk Centex -The southwest corner of the office area has mold <br />and is in the process of being corrected. RaeAnn and I have moved to City Hall while the <br />work is being done and hope to be back within the next 4-6 weeks. <br />Skate Patrol - we have two youth helping to remind users of the skate park to follow the <br />rules as posted and it seems to be helping significantly with issues that we've had in the past. <br />Ross has worked hard on this program with the Police Department and we axe quite pleased <br />with the results so fax. <br />Bike Rodeo - we are doing a bike rodeo on Monday, June 12`x. We haven't offered one in <br />years and are excited about this opportunity at Lions Park. This is a collaborative effort <br />between Elk River Parks and Recreation, Sherburne County, and the School District. <br />Junior Leader Program - we have received three applications fox Junior Leader. They axe <br />currently being contacted for helping this summer. <br />May Programs <br />Programs offered in May included fitness classes fox both children and adults, tumbling, <br />open playtime for tots, BLAST, Girl Power, Cheer America, Young Americans Self Defense, <br />Dog Obedience, annual Ice Show, and Skating Academy. <br />Special Marketing Efforts <br />Utility Stuffex - We are doing inserts into Elk River Municipal Utilities bills at the end of <br />July. The focus will be on Pinewood Golf Course. <br />Bank Stuffex -The Bank of Elk River will be putting stuffexs in their envelopes with <br />information about Entertainment in the Paxk and Art in the Paxk. They axe sponsoring Axt <br />
