DNR Grant Awards for Top of The World Addition <br />The City of Elk River has been awarded 1.2 million dollazs towards the <br />acquisition of 80 acres of land adjacent to Top of the World Park. <br />2. Conservation Partners Grant for Highlands East <br />The City of Elk River has been awarded a matching grant of $6,000 for prairie <br />and woodland restoration work at Highlands East Pazk <br />3. Rain Garden and Filter Strip at Orono Park <br />Grading and planting were finished in late June and plants aze well established. <br />Curb cuts and paving will take place in August. <br />4. Outsourcing Grounds Maintenance <br />In 2006 staff has budgeted for grounds maintenance of City Hall, the library, <br />Northbound and Westbound Liquor and the area around Lions Park Center to be <br />handled by a private contractor. This will provide an opportunity for Pazks and <br />Recreation Maintenance staff to focus on park maintenance and projects. Staff is <br />exploring the establishment of low maintenance native plantings along Twin <br />Lakes Boulevard to further reduce time spent mowing. <br />Culvert Upgrade Under CR 77 <br />Tiller Corporation is planning to install a culvert for their conveyors under CR 77. <br />Tiller will abandon this structure in approximately 15 years. There is an option for <br />the city to pay for a size upgrade to 12' by 14' that would allow it to converted to <br />a pedestrian underpass. The cost of this upgrade is approximately $80,000. Staff is <br />investigating funding options. <br />6. Trail Easements and Park Dedication <br />
