ITEM # 6. <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Michele Bergh, Recreation Manager <br />DATE: May 3, 2005 <br />SUBJECT: Staff Report <br />Hot Topic(s) of the Month <br />The deadline has passed for participation in the 2"d Annual Community Garage Sale and we <br />have approximately 100 homes participating, up from 821ast year. We have 89 individual <br />homes registered as well as a section of Trout Brook which just registered as a group. This <br />event takes place on May 7`h, the same day as the Arena Craft Fair, our Shoppes at Lions <br />Park Center, and the Public Safety open house so it will be a busy day around town. <br />April Programs <br />The following programs ran during the month of April: <br />9 different fitness classes each week, Weight Loss Success Challenge, Parent and Tot <br />Tumbling, Preschool Tumbling, Parent and Tot Open Playtime, Eager Elks Soccer, Eager <br />Elks Floor Hockey, Parent/Child Yoga, Eager Elks Kids Kardio, Eager Elks Yoga, Eager <br />Elks Tumbling, Girl Power, BLAST!, and Soccer. <br />Special Marketing Efforts <br />We did face painting at the Meadowvale school carnival and passed out program guides and <br />bags for the kids to put their prizes in. This is a great opportunity for us to get into the <br />school when there are a lot of families there. <br />Facility Use <br />We reserved 131 hours of field and concession stand use, 43.25 hours at Emporium, 107.75 <br />at Lions Park Center, 14 hours of shelter use, and 7.25 hours at the Bam. <br />Wellness Committee <br />We are pulling together a team for the Relay for Life which takes place in August. <br />
