I .B. <br />ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Steve Benoit, Recreation Manager <br />DATE: November 30, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: Major Park Use -Use of Lions Park for a Winter Festival <br />Re ues <br />The Elk River Chamber of Commerce has requested the use of Lions Park and Lions Park <br />Center on Saturday, February 12th to hold a community winter festival fundraiser event. <br />The rental period would run from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The group plans to <br />hold a variety of activities such as a chili cook off, snow golf, sledding, and a polar bear <br />plunge. <br />Information for your consideration <br />• This is a resident group. <br />• Proceeds from the event will be donated to charities. <br />Staff Recommendations <br />Event be approved with the following guidelines: <br />• All facility rental fees be waived. <br />• The Parks and Recreation Department provide trash cans for the event. <br />• The group will cover the cost of any needed additional portable toilets. <br />• The group will cover the cost of a Parks and Recreation building supervisor. <br />• The group will coordinate with the Health Department regarding any food serving <br />guidelines. <br />
