We welcomed <br />our new member. Murray McNair. There were na minutes from last <br />meeting with the architect, since there was not a quorum present. <br />Mick reported that several nroken sights outsitle nave been reps aced <br />6Y the city crew and thet they wilt need to fix the broken flagpole, <br />as well. She has received literature On glas8 insurance and after <br />tliscussion, it wa8 tlecitled not to purchase this since it i5 not <br />cost effective. <br />The grandfather clock in the International kaom is broken antl the <br />Nor'de have asked to have it bask to put intn the estate. A motion <br />was approved to give the clock back and a tnank you will be sent <br />for` the years it was donated to the library. <br />Bid opening for the new sedition will be Thursday, April 28 antl we <br />will have our next meeting on 'that day at 4~W p.m. We will also <br />need to plan a groundbreaking date and ceremony. Tha newspaper <br />snould be notified of this date. <br />Ken Benringer presented information to the Board about possible new <br />ways to fund libraries. Me gave details on the one-third, one-third, <br />dne-tnird concept which is based on population, numher of library <br />c nrdhdloers, and the net tax capacity of earn county. This idea <br />closes the rata gap and is an niternatiye to the taxing district, <br />which was originally proposed. ken has been presenting this plan to <br />County Board of Commissioners in the 6RR1. and will present it to <br />Sherburne County tommissioners oti May 3. The Board pa55ed a motion <br />unanimously to support our cpntinued officiation with GRRL. We will <br />draft a letter to the County Commissioners reiterating our <br />satisfaction with the BRRL services.
