ELK RIVER LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES <br />May 27, 1997 <br />Board Members: <br />Murray McNair, Chair present <br />Mary Keifenheim, Vice Chair present <br />Eleanor Holm, Secretary present <br />Elly Kretsch present <br />Linda Ritchie present <br />Also present: Mick Stoffers, Librarian - Verne Oleksowicz, GRRL <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:05 by Chair McNair. <br />Minutes from March were approved as presented; there was <br />no meeting in April. <br />Suggestion box contained suggestions for: more Boxcar Children <br />books, yearly or bi-yearly poetry readings perhaps sponsored <br />by Friends of the Library., video game magazines, more books, <br />Internet, returning books on time. <br />Verne reported the possibility of GRRL retaining council for <br />small claims court to recoup excessive overdue book fines. <br />May bills and budget updates were presented and discussed. <br />Acceptance was moved by Elly and seconded by Mary. All in favor. <br />Librarian's Report: <br />Old Business: <br />The Board commends Tom Mattson for building a new and larger <br />book drop. He charged $75.00 for materials and donated his labor. <br />New Business: <br />The Friends of the Library ordered computer furniture for <br />the Internet computers and it has arrived. The city has <br />approved matching funds for the computers. Verne reports that <br />all equipment for all GRRL libraries outside Stearns County <br />will be ordered at the same time. <br />The Public Works Department repaired the sprinkler system. <br />B&D Plumbing have repaired the water fountains. <br />Roofers will be completing their work this spring. <br />Mick discussed the preliminary 1998 budget and explained all <br />categories to the Board. It was suggested that the Board <br />walk through the library and grounds to take note of needs in 1998. <br />
