Chief of Police <br /> <br />July 8, 2003 <br /> <br />Lifesaving Award <br /> <br />On June 29, 2003 at 3:48 p.m., Officers Peterson and Besser responded to a medical at <br />21308 Vernon Street on a report of a possible heart attack. Prior to their arrival, the victim, <br />Stephen Bolstad, of Minnetonka - went into cardiac arrest. <br /> <br />Neighbors Pat and Bill Redman came to the victim's aid and performed CPR until officers <br />arrived. Officers applied their AED and shocked the victim four times, restoring both his <br />pulse and his respiration. The victim was transported to the hospital by Elk River <br />ambulance, he has been released from the hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery. <br /> <br />The quick actions of Pat and Bill Redman were instrumental in sustaining the victim until <br />officers could arrive on the scene. Their prompt response and application of this life saving <br />measure were critical in saving the life of another. They are hereby awarded the Elk River <br />Police Department Life Saving Medal. <br /> <br />Officers Klm Peterson and Todd Besser are also commended for their application of the <br />AED and other life saving measures that were also critical in saving the life of Mr. Bolstad. <br />They too are awarded the Elk River Police Department Life Saving Medal. <br /> <br />Please join us in recognizing the efforts of these four individuals. <br /> <br /> <br />
