UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: FROM: <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Troy Adams, P.E. - Director of Operations <br />John Dietz, Chair <br />Jerry Gumphrey, Vice Chair <br />Dar 1 Thom son, Trustee <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />Jul 13, 2010 6.1 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff U dates - Director of erations <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association will be holding its 78~' Annual Summer Meeting in <br />Alexandria, MN this year. The conference runs from Monday August 23`d through Wednesday <br />August 25`h. The 2010 Budget included sending 2 staff and 1 commissioner to this conference. <br />The brochure is attached for you reference. <br />On June 30s', Central Minnesota Municipal Power Agency announced that Steve Thompson was <br />promoted to Chief Executive Officer and Larry Blaine was hired as their Chief Financial Officer. <br />The news release is attached. <br />Sherburne County Emergency Services and the Community Emergency Response Team have <br />requested a tour and demonstration at our power plant. This is tentatively scheduled to take <br />place in August. <br />After the June 17`h storms, ERMU provided mutual aid assistance to Wadena and Rochester for <br />their tornado recovery efforts. <br />At the June 14`" EDA meeting, the EDA recommended the utilization of Energy City as an <br />economic development tool. In the recent past, ERMU has participated with the EDA in their <br />efforts and outreach focused on existing businesses. ERMU is currently working on updating <br />Conservation Improvement Programs brochures and rebate brochures to be used as <br />communication and education tools to help the EDA and Energy City with their economic <br />development and energy conservation goals. <br />Enclosed for your reading is the current issue of the MMUA Resource. <br />
