City of <br />Elk -,.~ <br />River <br />To <br />City Council <br />Agenda Section <br />Community Development <br />Item Description <br />REQUEST FOR ACTION <br />Meeting Date <br />June 21, 2010 <br />Consider Adoption of 171ST Focused Area Study Plan <br />Action Requested <br />Approval of the 1715L Focused Area Study as drafted. <br />Item Number <br />5.8. <br />Prepared by <br />Jeremy Barnhart, Planning Manager <br />Reviewed by <br />Reviewed by <br />Summary <br />The 1715f Avenue Focused area study is a land use plan developed over the last 17 months, providing land <br />use and public investment guidance for over 900 acres in the southern portion of the community. <br />The plan discusses and provides recommendations on: <br />• preferred location of a future interchange/ intersection onto Highway 10/169. <br />• preferred land uses as access to Highway 10/ 169 changes over then next 20 years. <br />• ways to maximize the benefits of the commuter rail station. <br />• ways to maximize the City owned Gateway property. <br />• ways to tie all the divergent properties together into a cohesive, promotable <br />neighborhood. <br />Planning Commission Discussion <br />The Planning Commission reviewed the plan at their meeting on June 8. No one commented on the plan. <br />The Planning Commission noted that the acknowledgement page should be changed to reflect new <br />commissioners. <br />Economic Development Authority Discussion <br />The EDA reviewed the plan at their meeting on June 14. As of this writing, comments were not <br />available. <br />Please note: A correction was made on page 66 of the FAST Study Plan which was distributed to you <br />last week.
