The concern is that
available land for new industrial development is limited, especially land in the urban services district. The
solution proposed is the industrial uses are reconfigured, removing uses that don't either require water
and sewer, or employ large population of people, to a new third industrial zone (I-3).
With properties rezoned, uses like mini-storage would need to be located outside of the urban services
district, retaining land for job growth and development.
The Planning Commission reviewed the planned ordinance at the meeting on June 8, 2010. They
questioned the impact on existing business. Any impacted existing businesses would be grandfathered,
and allowed to continue. Staff is not aware of any impacted businesses.
No comments have been received by the public in support or opposition to the proposal.
Attachments
• Staff Report to Planning Commission dated June 8, 2010
• Draft Ordinance
Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
N:\Departments\Comxnunity Development\Planning\Case Files\OA\OA 10-05 Industrial Zones\OA 10-OS industrial zoning to CC 6-21-10.doc
