CLOUD, Minn. -- Motorists will encounter shoulder, sidewalk and lane closures on Highway 10 in <br />Elk River beginning Monday, June14, as crews make pedestrian accessibility improvements at the <br />intersections of Proctor Avenue and Main Street. <br />Motorists should be prepared for sudden stops, watch for workers and equipment in the construction <br />zone, including in the medians. Parking restrictions and sidewalk and side street closures are possible. <br />The pedestrian controls at the traffic signal systems also will be upgraded for individuals with hearing or <br />sight impairments by providing safety directions in alternative formats using verbal messages, audible <br />tones and vibrating button surfaces. <br />Landwehr Construction, Inc., of St. Cloud, is the prime contractor for the $70,000 accessibility <br />improvement project. <br />All work is anticipated to be domplete by July 30. <br />During roadwork, Mn/DOT urges drivers to: <br />• Check wwvv.511 mn.org or call 511 for up-to-date information about traffic and road <br />conditions. <br />• Stay alert; expect the unexpected. <br />• Remember text messaging while driving is illegal. <br />• Don't eat or drink while driving. <br />• Follow posted speed limits; fines double in work zones. <br />• Plan ahead and expect delays, especially during peak travel times. <br />Work Zones.
