The grant will be used to purchase new multi-gas meters. <br />Background/Discussion <br />On March 31, 2010, the Elk River Fire Department applied for a Community Partnership Grant through <br />CenterPoint Energy to purchase new multi-gas meters. These meters allow firefighters to monitor the <br />presence of toxic gases including carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and explosive levels. The meters <br />are also capable of measuring the oxygen level in the air. <br />The department requested $2,300 in funding and was notified on May 3, 2010 that the City will receive <br />the full amount. <br />Representatives from CenterPoint Energy will be in attendance to present a check to the City for $2,300. <br />Financial Impact <br />This is a matching contribution grant award. The City will be responsible for contributing $2,300 for the <br />purchase of the equipment.
