<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 24, 1910 <br /> <br /> <br />The Common Council met at the Bank of Elk River. <br /> <br />Members present: F.L. Salter, President, J. Virgin, L. Pollard, trustees, O.J. Whitman, recorder. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President at 8:40 p.m. Minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />A motion by Virgin and seconded by Carr the following resolution was adopted resolved the owners of <br />proper adjacent to the cement sidewalk construction along the north side of fifth street and State State <br />Streets between Mill and Princeton Streets be and the same are herby assessed fifty cents (.50) per <br />square yard for sidewalk, and eighty eight cents (.88) per square yard for crossings, ? per ? discount to <br />be allowed if paid within ? days as per list below. <br /> <br />A petition to vacate a part of State Street described as follows, a triangular tract consisting of seventeen <br />(17) feet along the east side of Princeton Street and one hundred and thirty three (133) along the north <br />side of said State Street, signal by twenty one property owners on State Street was presented, by <br />Pollard, the recorder was instructed to post ? notices of the Village Council to be held Saturday evening <br />October 8, 1910 at which time the matter of discontinuing said part of State Street as ? for in said <br />petition will be brought up and be decided by said committee. <br /> <br />A motion made by Pollard seconded by Virgin to leavy an eight inch tiling across Gustaf Anderson’s <br />place to the river for drainage ?. Was carried. <br /> <br />On motion the following bills were audited and allowed: <br />72 – Elk River Lumber Co. – cement and sidewalk material - $174.21 <br />73 – Geo Biddick – 3 days work with team on street - $10.50 <br />74 – Crockett – 3 days work with team on street - $10.50 <br />75 – Bert Carr – 3 ½ days work on street with team - $12.25 <br />76 – W. Dimmick – 4 days work on street - $7.00 <br />77 – Pollard – 4 days work on street - $8.00 <br />78 – A.A. Opitz – 65 loads dirt for street - $6.50 <br />79 – Lee Salback – 4 ½ days work on street - $7.88 <br />80 – E. Daly & Co. – 50 feet hose - $6.00 <br />81 – Geo Worden – services as Marshal - $2.00 <br />82 – W. Le Babcock Sons Co. - ? nails pipe dynamite etc. - $13.62 <br />83 – Pollard – services as Judge at primary election - $5.55 <br />84 – W. O. Semans – services as Judge at primary election and ? return to auditor - $6.55 <br />85 – Virgin – services as Judge at primary election - $5.55 <br />86 – O.A. Whitman - clerk at primary election - $5.55 <br />87 – B.J. John??? – clerk at primary election - $5.55 <br />88 – A. A. Opitz – use of dumping ground - $10.00 <br />89 – N.D. Trumbull – placing books in hall and removing them, cleaning hall and services as <br />peace officer at primary election - $7.50 <br /> <br />Sidewalk assessment as ? reduction – <br />W.G. McLean – 73 ½ feet sidewalk at .50 per square yard - $20.40 <br />WM. Baldon?? – 46 feet sidewalk at .50 per square yard – Oct 7 paid $11.51 - $12.78 <br /> <br />
