UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Mike Tietz – Technical Services Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />October 12, 20216.1i <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• In September, the locators processed 682 locate tickets. These consistedof 4 emergency <br />tickets, 546 normal tickets, 8 non-excavation tickets, 2 boundary surveys, 86 updated <br />tickets, 16 cancellations, 4 corrections, and 16 locate meets. This resulted in a 9.1% <br />increase in tickets from the previous month and a 4.9% increase from the prior year. <br />• Electrical technicians completed 388 service order tasks, updated the power bill, <br />attended to customer meter/power quality issues and off-peak concerns. The Cold <br />Weather Rule went into effect on October 1 and will remain in effect until April 30. <br /> <br />• On September 23, staff ran generators #1, #2, #3 & #4. Cooling water on #1 & #2 was <br />still a little low. We replaced 4 injectors on Engine #3 prior to running. <br /> <br />• Mapping department has been busy GPSing splices & conduit locations along with <br />getting caught up on mapping changes/new construction from throughout the year. <br /> <br />• The substation apparatus technician has been working on a relay panel layout for the <br />West Substations and we have been working with Great River Energy (GRE) to remove <br />obsolete equipment from the control house. Also, GRE is investigating if they can move <br />their motorized switch control out to their pole. Staff has been assisting the water <br />department with investigating an electrical issue at Well #6 related to the <br />generator/transfer switch. <br /> <br />• I have been focusing most of my attention on the Advanced Metering Infrastructure <br />project. I have received several promising quotes from consultants, and I have put <br />together an evaluation form for the leadership team to score the proposals. We are <br />planning to interview companies with the top 2 or 3 proposals and make a choice by the <br />middle of October. <br /> <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />94 <br />
